Amy Taylor

Flute

Amy Taylor joins the Honolulu Symphony as Assistant Principal Flute and Piccolo for the 2007-2008 season.  She recently performed the part of the Red Maiden with YoYo Ma, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Amy has been a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra in Indiana and the Southwest Michigan Symphony. She has also performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and the Tulsa Opera company.

During the 2006-2007 season, as a member of MusiCorps, Amy promoted music awareness and appreciation by visiting community sites throughout Chicago. Musicorps is a music education and advocacy program sponsored by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Amy is a previous first place winner of the National Flute Association's Orchestral Excerpt competition, and was recently a finalist for positions with the New York City Opera and the Charlotte Symphony. She has also participated in the Aspen Music Festival and was with Opera In The Ozarks for five seasons. In 2008, she will give a recital in the Chicago Cultural  Center as part of the LaSalle Bank Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert series.
