Graeme Mutchler
Bass Trombone
Graeme is a native of Dallas, Texas, where he attended Duncanville High School. He then went to Wheaton College just outside of Chicago for his undergraduate degree in music performance. His teachers and mentors in Chicago were Charles Vernon, John Schwalm and Mark Fry. Graeme was also associate bass trombonist of the Civic Orchestra and was a substitute member of the Milwaukee Symphony. He then pursued a Master of Music degree at the Juilliard School where his primary teachers were Donald Harwood and Joseph Alessi. He was at the Juilliard School for one year and was then appointed to a one-year contract with the Honolulu Symphony for the 2007-2008 season. During that season, Graeme was also appointed to the Kansas City Symphony as bass trombonist. He also has attended the International Trombone Festival as a finalist in the Van Haney Competitions and also as a winner of the Yaxley Competition in 2007. He was also a finalist in the Zellmer 2007 Competition.
Graeme is happily married to his wonderful wife Brandee. They both enjoy hiking, body boarding and other outdoor activities, especially in Hawaii.
