Mike Zonshine

Trumpet

A native of Southern California, Mike has studied with Boyde Hood (Trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic), Roger Voisin (former Principal Trumpet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra), Tom Rolfs (Principal Trumpet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra), and James Thompson (former Principal Trumpet of the Montreal and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras).

Zonshine received a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University and started a Master of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music. Additional studies include two summers at the Tanglewood Music Center.

Mike has been a soloist several times with the Honolulu Symphony playing the works of Haydn's Concerto in Eb, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, Copland's Quiet City, Telemann's Concerto in D and also Arutunian's Concerto.

Michael has given performances and masterclasses for various institutions around the country including the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the University of Southern California, and the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.

Michael also serves as Brass Coach and Instructor for the Boston University Tanglewood Institute's Young Artist Orchestra in the summertime.

Michael Zonshine is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician.
