"The concert was a huge success. The different instruments together made
a rich atmosphere of music. I learned that you need discipline
and fast fingers to play these instruments. ... It is a nice feeling of peacefulness."

Curious students at Mokulele Elementary School got a chance to learn about the French Horn from David Brimhall. The Symphony's education programs touch thousands

Education
The Musicians perform educational programs with the entire orchestra at the concert hall and as small ensembles in the schools, reaching kids all over Oahu from kindergarten through high school. Six young concerto winners are featured each year, performing with the Symphony in a special evening concert. In addition, Musicians help meet needs of school music educators through the Teacher Resource Program.
Outside their Symphony schedule, many Musicians teach private lessons, Suzuki classes, coach student chamber groups and are lecturers or are professors at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Other Musicians organize master classes, chamber music coaching or other educational events given by visiting artists or chamber groups.
The Musicians belong to various professional educational organizations, such as the American String Teachers Association, the Suzuki Association of America (International Suzuki Association) and the Hawai'i Music Teachers Association, which sponsor various educational events for Hawai'i's youth.
