"I don't believe an orchestra should exist in an ivory tower, but should find its relevance
in the life of its community. Please remember, this orchestra belongs to the community."
- Steve Dinion, timpanist, percussionist

January 2-4, 2004 - Masterworks with Deborah Voigt

Norman Foster and Jim Nabors

During the intermission, Honolulu Symphony Clarinetist Norman Foster caught up with Jim Nabors, star of the classic hit comedy "Gomer Pyle." Well-loved worldwide, the entertainer took time out of his busy schedule to hear his friend Deborah Voigt. Foster thanked Nabors for his yearly Christmas gift to the community "Christmas with Friends and Nabors." Nabors replied that the show ran for so many years that "soon I'll be using a walker on stage."

Rami and Friends

Not only does Violinist Rami Gepner get a show of support from his girlfriend, Elizabeth Miller (right), but also from her mother, Joan, and friend Geoff Ross.
